Zeus heat shrink offers a suitable method for the application of a tight and protective jacketing to components that will be able to handle extremes of heat, moisture, corrosion, shock, and other tough environmental conditions. Heat shrinkable tubing increases the life of the protected components and helps to carry on their performance. Zeus heat shrinks are widely seen in the automotive, optical, medical, electrical, aerospace, and chemical fields.

Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) heat shrink tubing is favored primarily for its lower shrink temperature compared to other heat shrinks such as PTFE. FEP has high lubricity, optical clarity, and better flexibility than PFA. FEP heat shrink is frequently chosen for its lower cost and for applications in which large heat shrink ratios are not essential.

Zeus heat shrink tubing is delivered in its expanded state. When heat is briefly applied, the heat shrink tubing molds itself securely around the most complex and uneven shapes to form a fully sealed covering. Zeus 2:1 FEP heat shrink has the maximum shrinkable capability than any other Zeus FEP heat shrink products. Heat sources and heating methods are optional.

Heat shrink ratio indicates the final diameter of the heat shrinkable material after shrinking has taken place unrestricted, compared to the pre-shrunk material’s original diameter. After heat shrinking is finished, the material is said to be in its “recovered” or “recovery” state. As a result, final dimensions for heat shrink normally refer to recovered or totally shrunk dimensions.

As an example, for a heat shrinkable material with a 2:1 heat shrink ratio, the final diameter of the entirely shrunk material will be decreased to ½ of the pre-shrunk diameter. In other words, the pre-shrunk material’s primary diameter will be 2× the diameter of the fully shrunk (recovered) material; the ratio of their diameters, pre-shrunk:recovered, will be 2:1.

Bear in mind that heat shrink is generally applied over a material or part to encapsulate it; so, in real-world application, it is controlled from being shrunk fully.

Heat shrink ratio is a crucial data for all applications based on the degree of non-uniformity of the parts or items to be covered. More asymmetrically shaped parts will require bigger heat shrink ratios of the covering material to realize more complete or detailed encapsulation. On the contrary, more uniform components such as wires or cylinders would necessitate smaller heat shrink ratios for total coverage. Tapered components need to be considered closely: While seeming to be more or less even in shape, the taper degree must be given a thought when picking heat shrink and its shrink ratio.

Zeus FEP heat shrink tubing is provided with 1.3:1; 1.6:1; and 2:1 shrink ratios and can be chosen based on fractional sizes or American Wire Gauge (AWG4). This heat shrinkable material comprises of all of the same high standards and features of FEP. Zeus can also deliver personalized micro-miniature dimensions and other custom-made specifications and tolerances upon request.

Encapsulation – For regular protection and covering of important parts, FEP heat shrink may be the perfect choice for a user’s application concerning heat shrink temperatures, cost, and other features which are akin to more costly items. FEP 2:1 heat shrink offers the maximum shrinkage capacity of Zeus FEP heat shrinks delivering coverage of the widest range of component shapes. FEP heat shrink is repeatedly used to cover items such as roll covers, hoses, temperature probes, medical instruments, cables and wires, lighting, to mention but a few. FEP heat shrink’s transparency enables covered parts to be observable while in operation as well as stay protected from moisture, heat, temperatures, and chemicals.

Insulation – FEP’s outstanding dielectric properties make it an ideal option for encapsulating and insulating electrical parts including solenoids and lithium and alkaline batteries. FEP heat shrink’s heat tolerance permits it to continue to function at temperatures frequently encountered in these environs and more.

Wire Harness – FEP heat shrink’s exceptional dielectric properties make it a perfect choice for covering cables and wires and can even sustain splicing. After covering, FEP heat shrink also functions as insulation permitting it to be employed even where bare wire is present.
